CLS Orientation Night 26.07.09

The Chinese Language Society of our campus organized an orientation night yesterday. Tickets were priced at RM3 for non-members and RM2 for members.

The event was scheduled to start at 7.38p.m. You know why? Translated into Chinese, it’s pronounced as “qu sam pat” XD No la…just kidding. Actually, it’s like this. The theme is 38˚C. Our normal body temperature is 37˚C. So, the program is meant to make you high and raise your temperature to 38˚C. I think it really did.

At first, when we arrived, we were sorted into groups. I was in the black circle group. We sat in a circle and played the game where we had to introduce ourselves and remember the names of the people before you. Luckily I only had to remember a few. And I found someone with my Mom’s name. Haha.

Next, we played 我爱我的邻居 where if they ask you, “你喜欢你的邻居吗?” and you say, “不喜欢”. Then they will ask you, “你喜欢谁的邻居?” and you can pick anyone you like. Then their neighbors will have to exchange places with your neighbors. The person who asked you also have to fight for a place to sit and the last person standing will get punished. It’s something like musical chairs.

Then, every two groups were combined and we played ‘bomb’. You know the game where we chant like, “黑色bomb,黑色bomb,黑色bomb给白色bomb.” Kind of confusing a bit cause some of the colours sound quite alike.

After that, there was the game where a few of the committees would hold up a card bearing the words like 高, 矮, 费, 瘦, 大, 小. You choose which card group you want to go to. The MC will face the wall so that he doesn’t know where there were more people. He will then say a sentence and if the word he said belongs to the group you are in, the whole group is punished. For example, he could say, “One day, I was walking in Jusco and I saw an African-American who is very…tall.” So all the people in the ‘tall’ group will be punished. I think for the games, the interesting part were the punishments.

After the games, there was a drama presentation by CLS members. That story was about love and friendship; those where there were two best friends, then one day, one friend has a boyfriend but after some time, the boyfriend loves the best friend pula. Then fight, then apologize, then two were best friends again, that kind of story. It’s a musical so in the end, there was dancing.

When they finished dancing, it was our turn XD First, we were taught the choreography for恋爱-ing. That dance was exhausting. Probably because people were screaming, “Encore! Encore!” but oh well. They did that for all the songs anyway.

Next, we were all asked to form a big circle with boys in the inside ring and girls on the outside. We were asked to face our partners. They said to get to know each other first but we were going to change partners anyway, so what’s the point? Duh… We danced to the song简单爱. For the intro, we would keep changing partners. A tip from my friend was, if you want to meet up with your desired partner, stand about 10 people apart. I’m not sure though. But don’t ask me. I didn’t try it XD Since they had an encore, then I guess you’d have to be 20 people apart.

After that song, they asked us to stick with our partners. We were going to dance to恋爱达人. We could stand anywhere we like. My partner, he was shorter than me. Ahahaha… ok, I cheated. I wore heels. Hehe. We learn the steps for all the dances through example. They’d demonstrate once or twice and then we have to dance already. Quite easy but anyhow, if you don’t get it, just look at the people around you and you’d be able to pick up the steps.

After the encore, they repeated 恋爱-ing for the last time and the end^^ We took a lot of pictures after that. These people love the camera. Whenever they see people posing, they’d just join in. at first, it was just 4 of us roommates and classmates taking the picture. But then, the whole swarm came in and it became a group photo. All in all, it was fun. Great job, you guys = )

presentation down, mid term to go

presentation finish le^^

it's been quite some time since i did any public speaking so a little bit of nervousness was still there.
Overall, satisfied with our group, consisting of me, Kee Gui, Siew Chyn and Ming Li.

We were presenting about The Advantages and Disadvantages of Social Networking Sites. I introduced, Kee Gui - advantages, Ming Li - advantages, Siew Chyn - disadvantages and me again - disadvatages and conclusion.

At the end of our presentation, there was Q&A session. Noone asked anything but then, our lecturer, Ms. Elaine Ang said, "I have a question."

(pin-drop silence...)

we were like

"Have you all registered for perfectmatch.com?"

-.-' sweat

"No!" we all answered XD

Earth Hour + Boredom = ???

Last Saturday, I thought of home. Guess what made me think of home? The tilam lorry. You know the tilam lorry that goes to the housing gardens selling mattresses? They advertise using the speakerphone, airing the same recording over and over again saying, “Tilam! Tilam! Tilam lama tukar baru!” It’s the exact same recording like the one I used to hear when I was at home in Nibong Tebal. Wow! I didn’t know tilam sellers have a standard tilam advertisement. Wouldn’t it be funny if someone were to use that recording as their ringtone? Haha.

For all this time, I didn’t think of home…but that lorry brought my memories back. Anyway, I’m coming home in August.

Now, what drove me almost insane. Two things;
1. No electricity ( for like 6 to 7 hours! duh. )
2. So bored.

It’s like having Earth Hour…only, it’s multiplied by 6 or 7 times. This place…they cut the electricity from around 12p.m. until 7.30p.m. Something I want to say but don’t wish to say it out loud –lah! If I were to you know what (touch wood!), I’d blame it on lack of oxygen or CO2 poisoning. Come on man. It’s a hotel. It’s not like rumah kampung where the air flow is ok without a fan!

I’ve been practically sitting at the same place for almost as long as the time when the electricity was out. I did have something to do but other than my hands moving, I was probably meditating. I could say today is probably the day I talked the least in my whole life maybe.

This weekend, I was home alone. 5 of my housemates went to camp and 1 went back to her hometown. If I were to have my piano or guitar here, I wouldn’t mind the no-electricity thingy. At least I won’t be bored.

Well, thank God I’m still able to keep my sanity XD

Susan

look at my new friend...
her name is Susan(yea...shocking =.=), if i'm not mistaken.
and he's her owner.

it's a gecko. We had our Animals and Pets Club AGM yesterday. And members were encouraged to bring their pets. Haiz...if i weren't staying at Watercity(they don't allow pets), i would have gotten umm...maybe an iguana? haha... Kee Gui and i thought of catching the fish here to bring but oh well XD
The host was reading some facts about this little lizard and he said when geckos bite, it's very hard for them to let go...So he teased me saying,"careful...you're holding a gecko taiko there."
i was holding it in my hand when the host in front went and play the gecko's mating call -.-' It started climbing up my arm and then it rested on my elbow...and didn't move already...it kept resting there...but after that, it started climbing up, up, up until my shoulder then the owner had to carry it up. haha...quite an active one.
once, it even jumped from Kee Gui's arm to her shirt. i had to grab it and put it back in it's cage. My friend said it almost bit me. Well, thank God it didn't. phew...

To those STILL don't know where i am (and care. those who don't, ignore this = )

I'm no longer in Matriks Negeri Sembilan. New place: MMU Malacca. I don't stay in the hostel though. It's closed for renovation. Currently at Watercity. Hopefully moving soon (again). It seems like i'd move to a new place every month. First to Matriks, then to Watercity and then...umm...i don't know what the new place is called. pai seh XD

Here, i have 6 housemates (Han Ni, Angie, Yi Ting, Michelle, Sin Yong and Kee Gui). Before we move, we said we would take a "family photo". If possible, i'll upload it. We are kind of like a family here. Yi Ting is like the Mom. She's caring, organized in a way, disciplines the 'children'...haha... and the Dad...they said he's me -.-' The one that sleeps the latest every night la, lounges in the living room doing nothing la...bla bla bla...

I feel that we're somehow fated to be in a house. Guess what. My roommate, Kee Gui, is also my housemate, classmate and 'clubmate'. It's very hard to find someone in the same group/class as you in a house. In mine, Kee Gui and I are the only ones. So we go to class together, have our meals together and attend club meetings together. Well, on weekends, she goes back to her hometown in Johore. Me, my plans aren't certain. Depends if anyone 'booked' me for the weekends or i have 'appointments' XD I can't always go back to my hometown. 8 hours in the bus!

My timetable has changed. Now i have class on 3 days every week.

Monday: 9a.m. to 10p.m.

Tuesday: 2p.m. to 10p.m.

Thursday: 2pm. to 7p.m.

looky what i got here...

Okay...it's not mine, sadly...cute? It's a watersnake. Belongs to my friend. Like to play with it la... Anyone want to give me one? Hehe...

Well, that's from me for now. If i do have any new updates, i'll keep you guys posted. Take care~
